Thought for the day January 5, 2012

Probably the most difficult part about becoming well-organized is starting on doing it.  We are definitely creatures of habit, and it's very difficult to change something as basic as how you run your life on a day to day basis.

In order to get the most out of life, you need to do what's important first, while not neglecting things that are urgent.  One good thing about being well organized is that it can help you to get the urgent things done before they become urgent.

You can get started on getting organized today.  Start with planning the rest of your day, listing what you need to get done and prioritizing it.  Look at where you might group things together and fit the less-important things in as "breaks" in doing the most important work.  Start planning your weeks, months, and look at long term goals and intentionally fit in times so that you can make progress on them.

Once you get started, don't let a temporary busy time get you off-track.  Just schedule it in, but don't give up on the basic concept of intentionally planning what you're going to do in the order of importance.
