Thought for the day January 17, 2008

Quite a few years ago the Japanese seemed to buying-up many American companies and landmark buildings.  This caused the prices to go higher, and when the buying boom ended, the value of the things that they had bought declined.  Huge amounts of money was lost, and it was said that some large Japanese banks may have technically been bankrupt.

We're seeing a similar situation now with the Real Estate bust and credit difficulties.  Huge amounts of money have been lost, and large banks have had to get additional capital to avoid going under.

Our economy is fueled by ever-increasing debt, and it could all come down into a bad recession that takes many years to recover from if the cycle were to reverse suddenly.  We could be seeing the beginning of this today, or it may be something that never occurs.

Only God knows what will happen, and it's a situation that needs our prayers.  Pray for all of us that are in debt, and for our country to return to it's Christian roots.
