The price of oil has certainly gone up allot lately, as has the price of food and most everything else.  Energy costs ultimately effect the cost of most everything that we buy.

Incomes haven't followed all of the price rises, so our standard of living is in decline.  We've got to cut back on spending on many items to make sure that the important ones like food and energy can still be purchased now that they're at a much higher price.

More folks that were just barely making it aren't making it anymore.  I don't believe the standards for government assistance programs have changed yet to reflect the higher costs of food and energy, so those that can't make it anymore are likely to fall through the cracks when it comes to government assistance.

Ministries such as food pantries and homeless shelters, along with their secular counterparts, need our help so that they can deal with the increased number of people that need their help.

Pray about how you can be helpful to others during these difficult times, and be thankful for what God has given you.
